Melville, NY – April 2025 — Tech 2020 Solutions, a leading Long Island-based Managed IT Services and cyber security solutions provider, took time out of a busy schedule to give back to the local community with an engaging presentation for high school juniors enrolled in the Computer Technology program at Barry Tech, part of the Nassau BOCES system in Westbury, NY. Tech 2020 Solutions President John Hassler spoke with students about real-world careers in IT, the growing impact of artificial intelligence, and the critical role IT departments play in today’s business environment. Students were given a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a modern MSP, along with insights into network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and career pathways in the tech field.

The visit was part of Tech 2020’s broader mission to support and encourage young talent entering the technology sector.

It was an honor to speak with them, answer their questions, and hopefully spark further excitement for the field.”

The Computer Technology program at Barry Tech introduces students to computer hardware, software, digital electronics, and microcomputers, including robotic applications using Arduino boards. In their second year, students advance into a specialized “Network Cabling” curriculum, where they’ll explore the backbone of the internet and essential networking equipment.
During the presentation, Hassler addressed topics such as:

• What Tech 2020 Solutions does and the scope of its services
• The function and importance of IT departments within companies
• The size and responsibilities of Tech 2020’s own IT team
• How AI is used within the company—and where its limitations lie
• Real-world career advice, and what today’s IT professionals look for in new talent

The visit was coordinated by Barry Tech faculty members Lauren Engels and class instructor, Jhohan Rodriguez, who expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation:

The company is exploring internship and job shadowing opportunities with Barry Tech for the upcoming school year. A site visit is being planned for May to further solidify the collaboration and provide students with real-world exposure to the IT industry.
